On February 3, 2020, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) of the Ministry of Education officially announced the list of Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation's 17th Higher Education Young Teacher Award and funded projects. The awards and funding are for national selection. This year, a total of 101 outstanding young teachers have won awards, and 113 basic research projects (including 13 projects funded by the Young Teacher Fund of Western Universities) have been funded.
Meng Qingyan, deputy dean of the School of Social Sciences, was successfully selected for the Fok Yingdong Education Foundation Young Teacher Award.
The Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation was established in 1986 by the former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a well-known Hong Kong industrialist Mr Fok Ying Tung, who invested 100 million Hong Kong dollars in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The Fok Ying Tung Education Fund aims to encourage young teachers in Chinese institutions of higher learning to stand out and young students studying abroad to return to domestic universities to teach, and to provide funding and rewards to young teachers engaged in scientific research and outstanding achievements in teaching and scientific research.
The Fok Ying Tung Education Fund has been established for more than 30 years and has enabled a large number of outstanding young talents to stand out. Many of the funded scientific research projects have also achieved fruitful results. A large number of outstanding young teachers have received funding and awards from the foundation, many of whom have become Outstanding leading talents with outstanding achievements in various research fields.
